Ocean Springs is a city in Jackson County, Mississippi, about 2 miles east of Biloxi. Part of the Pascagoula, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area, it has a population of just over 23,000 as of 2010. It lies right in the middle of the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast, adjacent to Biloxi Bay.
Ocean Springs has a vibrant arts community, as well as a historic downtown area, lined with majestic oak trees.
The late Walter Inglis Anderson, a nationally renowned painter and muralist, was a native of Ocean Springs. The town also hosts a number of festivals, some of which include The Herb Festival and the Peter Anderson Festival.
The French originally established a settlement in Ocean Springs in 1699, but it was inhabited by Native Americans and was abundant in natural resources for many centuries.
